Selecting the right helmet size for your atv racing helmet
Take a tape measure and wrap it around your head evenly at the point just above your head, so that it wraps from where you start around the back, across your forehead in a complete circle. Remember, it doesn't matter how tall your head is, its about how wide it is around.
FITTING YOUR HELMET
The helmet should fit so that the visor line is above the eyebrows. The fit should be snug and there should be no additional gap. A properly fitted helmet will minimize the internal bounce factor in the event of an impact, so this is important.
The chin strap will be adjustable and should fit snugly. If the strap is too loose the helmet won't be able to do its job and will shift or break loose on impact. It is also important that the strap is snug and comfortable and not cranked too tight as this can affect your airway and possibly choke you if you wipe out. If its not comfortable then its probably too tight, if there is a gap under it, then its probably too loose. The chin strap should easily adjust, and should fit under your chin and not in contact with your throat.

ENGLISH MEASUREMENTS
Alright now, wrap that tape measure around your head above your ears at the level of your eyebrows. Congratulate yourself on having a perfect shaped head and consult this section if your browser has difficulties processing tables
Inches
21.5 to 22.5
You will need a small helmet
22.5 to 23 1/4
This is the size range for medium helmets
23 1/4 to just under 24 inches
Your head will require a large helmet
24 inches to 24 and 3/4 inches
This requires an extra large helmet (xl)
If you are a sturdy person with a large head, it makes particular sense to protect that obviously massive brain. If you are measuring anything larger than XL you will want a double extra large helmet (XXL) for keeping it all together.

YOUTH SIZES
Youth sizes for helmets are for any heads that are smaller than the small size. There are variants in youth sizes and the youth helmet selection has an assortment of these. You will have to check the product detail page to make sure that any helmet that is selected for a youth size fits appropriately.
You should use this chart if you aren't sure what your helmet size is. Just grab a tape measure and do it. If you are estimating the size for someone elses head, try and remember how big their head is compared to yours and adjust accordingly.
